JOHNNY DEPP GETS HIS MUSTACHE
ON  IN "MORTDECAI"

Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor provide straight faced back-up.

Audiences have seen Johnny Depp, a famously restless actor, take on a wide variety of roles in recent years. They've ranged from "Alice In Wonderland"s giddy Mad Hatter to Dark Shadows' camp vampire and "The Lone Ranger"s stoic sidekick. Now, his latest project, "Mortdecai" suggests that he's finally found his calling; upper class English twit.

With Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor providing straight faced back-up, the film was adapted from Kyril Bonfiglioi's 1970's series of novels. It was directed by David Koepp and set for release on February 6 2015.

In the comedy, Depp plays Charlie Mortdecai, described as a debonair art dealer and part-time rogue who gets caught up in a quest to recover a stolen painting that may  contain the key to unlocking a bank account filled with Nazi gold.

The role allows Depp the chance to go eccentric once again. Seriously, that mustache. That attitude...while trying to maintain a stiff upper lip in the face of increasingly ridiculous circumstances. Including a visit to "a terribly vulgar place called Los Angeles."

COLIN FIRTH AND JUDE LAW
JOIN CAST OF "GENIUS"

Colin Firth and Jude Law are joining  Guy Pierce, Nicole Kidman, Laura Linney and Dominic West in Michael Grandage's film "Genius".

Pierce will take the role of F. Scott Fitzgerald alongside West as  Ernest Hemmingway in leading theatre director Grandage's debut feature film.

Law stars as Wolfe opposite Firth as Perkins, with Kidman as Alice Bernstein and Linney as Louise Perkins. "Genius" will commence filming this October at Shepperton Studios and on location in the U.K.

Adapted by playwright and screenwriter John Logan from A. Scott Berg's book, "Genius" tells the story of the complex relationship between literary giant Thomas Wolfe and Scribner Publishing's iconic editor Maxwell Perkins.

MEET AMELIA: THE COMPUTER
THAT THINKS LIKE YOU

A new artificial intelligence computing system is here. Named Amelia, after aviator and pilot Amelia Earhart, the system---incubated for the past decade at a privately owned and relatively obscure IT services firm called IPSOFT---is able to shoulder the burden of often tedious tasks, allowing human co-workers to take on more creative roles.

Answering the question "can machines think" posed by British mathematician Alan Turing in 1950, Amelia learns by following the same written instructions as her human colleagues, but is able to absorb information in a matter of seconds.  This involves understanding context, applying logic and inferring implications.

While most "smart machines" requite humans to adapt behavior to interact with them, Amelia---who speaks more than 20 languages---  interacts like a human herself. She's been trialed at a number of Fortune 1000 companies, manning tech help desks, procurement processing and providing expert advice for field engineers.

Just as machines transformed agriculture and manufacturing, Amelia's creators, IPsoft believes that cognitive technologies will drive the next evolution of the global workforce.

BULGARI'S MEN'S SPA EXPERIENCE: CIGARS AND COGNAC INCLUDED

A new luxury package at London's Bulgari Hotel called The Gentlemen's Signature Experience is a master class in grooming and the ways of fine living for the Y chromosome contingent. Housed within the vault-like Bulgari Spa, it's akin to venturing into Bruce Wayne's particularly elegant, well-fragranced Bat Cave.

The experience involves an old-fashioned wet shave and haircut taking place in a room devoted entirely to the client. Bulgari's barber will also talk you through their fine range of men's colognes. But after the shave and haircut, complete with transcendental scalp massage,  the real fun kicks off.

What's perhaps the crowning glory of The Gentlemen's Signature Experience  is when the newly-coiffed customer is ushered into the Cigar Shop and Sampling Lounge. A specially appointed "cigar sommelier" walks one through the options available.

Then pair your choice with Hennessy XO Cognac or Remy Martin and remain happily enshrined in the old boys' club environs, feeling like a latter-day Cary Grant.
