CHRISTOPHER WALKEN  AS
CAPT.HOOK IN NBC'S "PETER PAN"

Oscar winner Christopher Walken stars as Captain Hook in NBC's follow-up to the blockbuster television performance of "The Sound of Music."  Last year NBC had a stunning success with its live telecast. The three-hour musical delivered 18.6 million viewers.

Though usually considered a dramatic actor, Walken has a long history of singing and dancing roles, from "Pennies From Heaven" (1981" to the aforesaid "Hairspray" (2007) to the Clint Eastwood-directed "Jersey Boys" (2014).

Commenting on his casting, NBC Entertainment's Chairman Bob Greenblatt called Christopher Walken "really a song-and-dance man at heart. In fact, he might be the first tap-dancing Captain Hook you've ever seen."

But not the first Dancing Pirate. That honor belongs to Charles Collins who played the title role in the  campy 1936 musical adventure film of the same name. Shown frequently on MoviesAndMore.tv, the film also features as the sleepy Mexican town's Mayor, Frank Morgan. He went on to fame as the Wizard in the "Wizard of Oz."

For a reminder of Walken's dancing chops, check out this clip from 1981's "Pennies From Heaven."

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES & BILL NIGHY TO STAR IN "DAD'S ARMY"

Catherine Zeta-Jones along with Michael Gambon, Toby Jones and Bill Nighy  will be featured in a new big screen version of the British TV hit, "Dad's Army." The actress will pay a journalist sent to write about the exploits of the fictional Home Guard during the Second World War.

Based on the hugely popular television show, the setting for the film is 1944 at the Dover Army Base in  Walmington-By-The Sea. The Allies are poised to invade  the Continent and finally defeat the German Army. But in Walmington, morale among the Home Guard is low. Their new mission--- to patrol the Army Base---is a great chance to revive their reputation.

That is, until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about base. She sets the Guards' pulses racing, putting the local women on red alert. Then MI5 discovers a radio broadcasting to Berlin from the Base.

There's a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is at stake. And it falls to our unlikely heros to stand up and be counted. The film is currently being shot on location in Yorkshire.

STUDIO PERKS OF HOLLYWOOD EXECS: HOME SCREENING ROOMS
PRIVATE JETS & CHAUFFERED
LIMOS PURRING CURBSIDE

Even in a world of box office freefall and studio layoffs, the perks stay in place for top industry execs. The most successful agents have seemingly bottomless expense accounts, often as high as $5000 a month.

But the sweetest spoils go to studio chiefs. Use of the company's private jet, access to a car and driver, a private screening room built at your residence with the bill picked up by the company---at a cost somewhere between $500,000 and $2,000,000. These lifestyle bonuses are baseline perks.

Also built into mogul contracts are the resources---human and otherwise--- required to maintain the trappings of the role. Studio chiefs have 24/7 assistants. Rumor has it that red carpet regulars from executive suites have hair, makeup and wardrobe for events written into their contracts.

Top exces also have their offices renovated regularly. One, whose two offices were being redone was said to be so unhappy with his brand-new carpets that he had them ripped out---and replaced on the same day!

ALL HAIL THE BEST BROLLYS!
THREE OF THE FINEST EXPLORED

Thanks to nearly constant inclement climate, (those brollys  aren't just for show), the Brits know a thing or two about umbrellas. To honor the bumbershoot's  power of protection, function and style, we've chosen three that have found great favor across the Pond.

The Vinyl Birdcage
The Queen and members of the Royal family have used them for years. Usually transparent with trim in a favored color, the shape gives max protection for head and shoulders. Plus, you can switch to a floral canopy when you don't need to be seen by adoring crowds.

The Fulton Cyclone

Founded in 1956 by the engineer Arnold Fulton, Fulton is the UK's best selling umbrella. As the name suggests, the Cyclone is hardy, withstanding up to 78mph in wind tunnel testing. Technically brilliant, it has fiberglass ribs, long-lasting polycarbonate joints and an ergonomic handle. It reduces down to  thin tube that you can zip into a case and carry on your back.

James Smith & Sons Solid Stick

Established on London's Oxford Street in 1857, it's Europe's oldest umbrella shop. It sells a vast range of brollies and prides itself on directing customers to the perfect choice.

Once the canopy and handle are selected from their vast array, the umbrella stick is custom cut to the purchaser's exact height.
