In The Lens

"SUICIDE SQUAD" TO STAR

WILL SMITH

It's official!  Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto are to star in "Suicide Squad" says Warner Bros. Based on the DC comic book, the story centers on the team of super villains who are given a chance at redemption by the government. The catch: their mission will probably kill them all. The film, which is shooting in Toronto, opens in the U.S. on August 5th, 2016.

Smith will play Deadshot, best known as a Batman villain, while Hardy is the group's leader, Rick Flagg. Leto will take on the Joker and Robbie will portray Harley Quinn, his on-and-off girlfriend. Rounding out the cast, Jai Courtney plays Boomerang and Cara Delevingne, the model-turned-actress, is Enchantress, a sorceress.

According to Warner Bros. president Gregg Silverman, "We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble give new meaning to what it means to be a hero. And what it means to be a villain."

KERRY WASHINGTON, KATE HUDSON

TO STAR IN THRILLER "UNFORGETTABLE"

Sources have confirmed that "Scandal" star Kerry Washington and Kate Hudson will star in the thriller "Unforgettable." A Warner Bros. project, the film will be helmed by "Belle" director Amma Asante.

The script by Christina Hudson centers on a woman trying to settle into a new marriage and life as a mom. She suddenly must contend with her husband's ex, a woman who is out to get her. At this stage of the deal, it's unclear who will play which part.

Washington currently stars in the ABC hit "Scandal" and was twice nominated for her role as the stylish crises PR maven operating in White House circles. Kate Hudson recently wrapped  "Rock The Kasbah," a comedy that features Bill Murray leading an all-star cast.

HOLLYWOOD'S RULES FOR

SAYING THANK YOU

Insiders say it's better to have your shoot run over than to be late with a thank you note. Those two words are usually a simple expression of gratitude. But surprisingly, in Hollywood during this digital age, handwritten notes still reign.

In fact, the vintage act of putting pen to paper is alive and well, according to an overwhelming consensus among industry and social types. They say that today, when every communication seems rushed, a handwritten note means someone cared enough to take the time to show their appreciation. Among the Hollywood luminaries who excel at the art of the thank you note: Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Renee Zwillweger to name

just a few.

With all our electronic devices, it seems they and others like them feel we are more connected than ever before. But at the same time, more distant. All the more reason this holiday season to thank your favorite Santas with personal notes. In the materialistic zip codes of Beverly Hills and Brentwood, they are considered a gesture as valuable as any gift that might arrive on their doorstep.
