FACEBOOK LAUNCHES iPHONE APP EXCLUSIVELY FOR FAMOUS PEOPLE

The new app---tagged Mentions---challenges Twitter for celebrity status by letting public figures more easily interact with fans. Vying in a social media popularity contest with Twitter, Facebook has released an app with a velvet rope wrapped around it.

The new Facebook Mentions App is currently only available on Apple iPhones for celebs, athletes, politicians and other public figures with "verified" pages in the U.S. It's designed to encourage famous folk to post more content to Facebook---and interact directly with their followers.

Unlike the regular Facebook app available to the hoi polloi, Mentions gives high profile individuals a filtered view of notifications about fan activity, including mentions from other influencers or the media Other features include the ability to host a live Q&A on their pages from an iPhone and suggestions on other popular figures to follow.

According to a Facebook spokesperson, "With so many people connected to public figures, it's really hard to manage those interactions. We realized we could create a way to make that easier."

GREEN HORNET BLACK BEAUTY
CAR AUCTIONED

One of the two modified 1965 Chrysler "hero cars used during filming of the 2011 movie went on the auction block at Boston's RR Auction House in late June 2014. Bidding opened at $34,529.00.

The 1965 Chrysler Imperial was converted by Dennis McCarthy of Vehicle FX, Sun Valley California, who modified cars for Fast & Furious and Batman Begins. The car is equipped with its original 413 cubic inch V8 engine and has 71,421 miles on the odometer.

McCarthy modified the stock Imperial with lime green head lamps, two hood-mounted Browning .30 caliber machine guns that simulated gunfire by firing bursts of propane, four arrays of Stinger missiles beneath the front and back bumpers, a revolving license plate that rotates to HORNET and a lighted interior console in Chinese for the benefit of the Hornet's chauffer and wingman, Kato.

The car was one of 29 custom-built for the production, most of them stripped-down stunt models that were destroyed during filming. Despite devastating reviews, The Green Hornet grossed $229 million worldwide after its release in January 2011.

KARL LAGERFELD IS
BECOMING A BARBIE DOLL

Mattel's Karl Lagerfeld Barbie is so stylish, even Vogue's Anna Wintour might crack a smile at the sight.

Previously, Lagerfeld was immortalized as a Smurf, a Simpsons character, a doll and a teddy bear. Now, Barbie Lagerfeld will be launching later this year as part of Mattel's Barbie Collector Series.

Barbie has had several fashion makeovers before---at the moment she's on sale dressed as Herv Leger by Max Azia. And, she's already been dressed as Coco Chanel. But this new incarnation of the iconic doll is fashion with a twist.

Kaiser Karl won't be a Ken Doll. Instead, Barbie will be dressed head to toe in Lagerfeld's look---from the fingerless gloves to the white ponytail. It's boy meets girl chic. Her outfit will include a tailored back jacket, a white shirt with a high collar and skinny black jeans.

Accessories are key, including a fat necktie, dark sunglasses and black ankle boots

It's not every day that Barbie dresses like the world's most famous fashion designer. Just one question: where's Lagerfeld's oh-so-chic white cat Choupette? Note: for an inside look at Lagerfeld's world, catch Lagerfeld Confidential this week on MoviesAndMore.tv.
