In The Lens
WOODY ALLEN'S NEXT MOVIE
TO SHOOT IN RHODE ISLAND

Woody Allen has opted to shoot his next film in Rhode Island, with lensing starting in July 2014.

Allen shot his last film, "Magic in the Moonlight" on the French Riviera. His previous, "Blue Jasmine" was shot in New York and San Francisco. Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix are set to star in the production, with Allen to write, produce and direct.

"Magic in the Moonlight" starring Stone opened July 25th to favorable reviews.

Casting for the yet-untitled new film has begun with Parker Posey and James Blackley joining Stone and Phoenix in what is described as a contemporary story. Although plot details are unknown at this time, academics, graduate students and working class characters are said to play major roles.

"SHINING" PREQUEL
"OVERLOOK HOTEL" TO FILM

Mark Romanek is checking into the "Overlook Hotel". The director is in negotiations to direct the prequel to "The Shining", one of Stephen King's early horror works and was adapted into the classic Stanley Kubrick movie which starred Jack Nicholson.

"Overlook Hotel" will tell the story of the building through the eyes of its first owner Bob T. Watson.

Watson, who was a robber baron at the beginning of the 20th century, scaled the remote peaks of the Colorado Rockies to build the grandest resort in America and a place where he and his family would also call home.

The original film revolved around a writer played by Nicholson who takes his family to the hotel for the winter while he works there. But he becomes possessed by an evil presence which influences him to commit violent acts while his psychic son sees horrific visions of the past and future.

"A YEAR IN CHAMPAGNE" DOCUMENTARY TO UNCORK IN THE U.S. FOR SPRING 2015

Filmmaker David Kennard's follow-up to "A Year In Burgundy" will take his camera to the Champagne region of France.

The documentary will bring to life the area's rich history and how the world's most prestigious sparkling wine is created despite the chalky soil, frost, copious rain, rot and other difficulties.

Wine importer Martine Saunier acts as guide, taking the cameras through six houses, from small producers to world class labels like Gosset and Bollinger.

Says Saunier "Champagne is a beverage that people immediately associate with luxury ad celebrations. The film pays tribute to the region and the people who make this very special wine."

David takes the viewer on an incredible journey and delivers a vibrant inside look at the complex world of Champagne production.

SALVADORE FERRAGAMO:
STAR SHOE MAKER

There are 14,000 pairs of shoes in the archives of Salvadore Ferragamo safely hidden away in the Palazzo Spini Fironi, the medieval fortress in Florence that now serves as the headquarters of the Ferragamo family business.

This summer---and for the next nine months until April 12 2015---if you happen to be in Florence, you can visit Equilibrium exhibit at the Ferragamo Museum in the building's foundations.

There you will find choice shoes from the collection---including the stilettos made from suede and crocodile for Marilyn Monroe in the 1959 film "Some Like It Hot. And perhaps Ferragamo's most famous shoe, the Rainbow sandal from 1938-39 made for Judy Garland. Other fans included Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren.

Ferragamo died in 1960. His family, who still run the company consider one of the most memorable pieces in the show---and perhaps the shoe of which Ferragamo himself would be most proud---is the first shoe he made for his son Ferrucio---now the company president--- a tiny well-worn pair of soft brown leather.

Equilbrium at the Museo Salvadore Ferragamo displays the work of the genius shoe maker to Hollywood's happiest---and most elegantly shod---feet
