MORGAN FREEMAN JOINS MARK WAHLBERG IN   BOSTON-BASED  SEQUEL "TED 2"

Morgan Freeman has landed a role in "Ted 2" as a civil rights lawyer.

Freeman is set to act alongside Bostonian Mark Wahlberg in Seth MacFarlane's follow-up to the 2012 smash "Ted", which will star MacFarlane as the eponymous foul-mouthed teddy bear.

Freeman is set to play a lawyer who helps Ted after the titular character  gets into some legal trouble, but the rest of the plot remains under wraps.

Members of the "Ted 2" cast have been spotted filming scenes around  Boston in locations such as the South End, the Boston Public Garden and at the historic Marriott Custom House Hotel in the Financial District.

MacFarlane has reportedly expressed interest in getting a few A-listers to have cameos in the film, similar to the surprise appearances in "A Million Ways To Die In The West".
KATIE HOLMES MOVES TO DIRECTOR'S CHAIR FOR MOTHER-DAUGHTER STORY "ALL WE HAD"

Katie Holmes will make her directorial debut and star in the mother-daughter drama "All We Had", based on the Annie Weatherwax drama. Tribeca Production's Jane Rosenthal will produce.

Holmes optioned "All We Had" in July and Scribner published the book, Weatherwax's debut novel, on August 5th. The story centers on a mother and her 13 year-old daughter living on the edge of poverty. They find an unlikely home amid the quirky residents of small town America.

"I am very excited and honored to be collaborating with Jane on this project and look forward to bringing Annie's incredible characters to the screen", said Holmes.

THE NEXT BIG THING: LAUNCH OF THE SUPERSONIC SUBMARINE

New developments mean the era of supersonic travel by submarine could be fast approaching.

Reported technological developments could see travelers glide from Shanghai to San Francisco in under two hours. The ability to travel underwater at such rapid speeds is achieved by harnessing a process known as supercavitation.

Supercavitation envelopes a submerged vessel  in an air bubble which reduces water drag and allows it to pick up speed. Torpedoes deployed using this method reached a recorded speed of 230 Miles per hour.

While scientists have yet to specify a date when supersonic underwater travel will be realized, some in the field say that supercavitation could make civilian underwater transport an everyday reality.

Meanwhile, the Sea Orbiter, a partially submerged oceanic observation vessel that will explore the world's deepest seas, is expected to board its first passengers within two years.
