Dear Movie Lover,

Fashioned by the pen of one of history's greatest songwriters in 1788, Robert Burns' Auld Lang Syne is one of Scotland's gifts to the world. The lyrics recall the love and kindness of days gone by, giving us a sense of belonging and fellowship to take into the future.
Auld Lang Syne has appeared in dozens of films over the years,
from the 1920's to the present day. Sometimes it's pivotal to the action. Sometimes not. Here's a small yet memorable selection:
Sex and the City: The Movie (2008)
Starring Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon
Sarah Jessica Parker
Ocean's 11 (2001)
Starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts
When Harry Met Sally (1988)
Starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal
An Affair To Remember (1957)
Starring Cary Grant, Deborah Kerr
It's A Wonderful Life (1946)
Starring Lionel Barrymore, Donna Reed, James Stewart
Auld Lang Syne has conquered the world with it's emotional
resonance.  The phrase roughly translates to "long, long ago" or
"days gone by". Here are the four verses and chorus,
should you fancy singing along yourself.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
(Repeat Chorus)
And surely you'll buy your pint cup,
And surely I'll buy mine!
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
(Repeat Chorus)
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daises fine,
But we've wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
(Repeat Chorus)
Final Verse
And there's a hand. my trusty friend!
And give us a hand of thine!
And we'll take a deep draught of good will
for auld lang syne
