Dear Movie Lover,
Cyrus, Serena Gomez and Taylor Swift:
But Miley Takes Top Awards As
What do they do to these Disney Girls at the Mouse Factory? Are they so carefully monitored that the moment they break away, it's  stripping for bad behavior time to prove they're all grown up?
Miley sure put that statement over the top via gross on-stage antics with a much older Robin Thicke. If they team up as an act, a good name would be Pervy and Sleazy in Concert.
Not so for Serena Gomez who took a Best Pop Video Award looking refreshingly sexy and sweet. And more than a little grown up from her role on the late Wizards of Waverly Place.
On-again, off-again girlfriend of Justin Bieber, she's a looker and by all accounts, a good actress.
But it was talented Taylor Swift who won the evening. Grown up glam all the way. But she revealed her latent immaturity by mouthing something rude on-camera about her ex, Harry Styles.  Guess lip-reading's as intrusive in the entertainment world as the telephoto lens!.
Are the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel Out To Save Detroit? Not sure about that. But the Michigan Film Office has approved Warner Brothers to receive $35 million in incentives to film in the state early next year.
The actioner that will star Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman will spend around $131 million in the state, according to the MFO organization. The project is expected to start filming in Detroit and around Michigan for the first three months of 2014, filling in for the fictional cities of Metropolis and Gotham.
Approximately 400 Michigan workers, 500 vendors and thousand of extras are expected to be hired, with the project spending around $5.1 million on hotels alone. With Super Heros to the Rescue, Detroit Should Rise Again!
It's Film Festival Season
First Stop: Venice August 28th to September 7th will give the movie industry first look at the latest crop of films.
It's a nervy experiment in blockbuster minimalism and a film of robust movie thrills, restoring a sense of wonder, terror and possibility to the big screen that should inspire awe among critics. But more important--- audiences worldwide.
Opening in theatres stateside October 4th, it pairs George Clooney and Sandra Bullock in a white-knuckle space odyssey
that is both classical and cutting-edge in its showmanship and technical perfection.
Gravity is an eye-popping, screen-filling spectacle that is the season's first bona fide must-see. So go for it!

In This Woody Allen Film
The Clothes Are Characters Too
Blue Jasmine. Woody Allen's latest movie has received nearly universal praise from critics and audiences. But as the movie unfolds, viewers may or may not realize how carefully costume designer Suzy Benziner has curated the wardrobes of characters in her fifth film collaboration with  Allen.
With an anthropologist's eye, Ms. Benzinger clothes an array of contemporary characters. And in this film, the clothes are the characters. Most notably, that exotic species known as the Upper East Side Socialite. The impeccably dressed Jasmine is portrayed by Cate Blanchett. The wife of Hal, a slick hedge fund operator played by Alec Baldwin, her golden world collapses when Hal's Ponzi scheme-based investments go south. Broke and unstrung, Jasmine heads for the down-market phase of her existence in her down-market sister's dingy apartment in a decidedly different environment: the Mission District of San Francisco.
With a wardrobe budget of $350000 to dress the entire cast including extras, Ms. Benzinzer had to outfit Cate Blanchett's riches to rags trajectory. The assumption is that the Feds have taken everything Jasmine owns, including most of her clothes. With a minimal budget, Benzinger had to re-create the remnants of the up-market self she used to be.
That means the classy crumbs---the pieces Vuitton luggage, a couple of Chanel jackets, a lovingly well-used Birkin bag must be acquired with very little funds and lots of called-in favors. In this tale, these glamorous pieces from some of fashion's most luxurious houses don't indicate a life of wealth and privilege. Rather they serve to underscore the depths of Jasmine's fall. She wears the clothes---not for their elegance and perfection but because the garments are all she owns. No money even for big box polyester.
Results? The clothes  speak for themselves. This wardrobe says it all. But on Cate Blanchett? Suzy Benzinger says "When Cate walks into a room as an actress, the fashion Cate is left behind. For example, I don't know how many racks of clothes I had on hand. But Cate came in one morning and went immediately to a simple sheath dress that I felt summed up the character. Pulling it on, Blanchett remarked, "This isn't something I'd wear in a million years but I'm feeling Jasmine right now."
Did You Know? Some Celebrity Tidbits
Jacqueline Kennedy Made A Will On Her 2ND Honeymoon
When Senator Kennedy and Jackie snuck away to the Half Moon resort in Montego Bay for a second honeymoon, Mrs. Kennedy wrote out her last will and testament at a small mahogany desk in Cottage #1.
It was a beautifully appointed  private beach-side retreat. The secluded cottage gave the couple welcome privacy where they could walk, swim and relax. When Jackie completed the document, she phoned Heinz Simonitch, at that time the Resort's General Manager as well as being the Austrian Consulate to the Island Government of Jamaica. Genial and hospitable to the core, Herr Simonmitch invited Mrs. Kennedy to his villa where he and his wife Elizabeth witnessed the
document and placed it in the Resort's safe.
Over time, the Will became obsolete as Mrs. Kennedy wrote new ones. But  even though he has moved back to his native Austria Mrs. Kennedy's early Will remains an important piece of American history treasured to this day by a dignified and diplomatic Herr Heinz Simonitch.
Half Moon Lured Another Kennedy, Too
Around 2005, it was Senator Ted and his lovely wife Vicki. Coincidentally, they also stayed in Cottage #1 and enjoyed beach-side privacy where they could stroll and swim undisturbed.  On this particular visit, Senator and Mrs. Kennedy were lunching at the Resort's Sea Grape Terrace where a group of magazine editors on a press junket were enjoying a bite as well.
Out of respect, the editors decided to avoid even stealing glances at  the couple. But when Senator Ted appeared perplexed, one of their number approached his table and explained. That's when the politician in Teddy took hold and he and Mrs. Kennedy approached the editors' table. As you might expect, smiles and handshakes broke out all around. That Kennedy charm proved irresistible once again!
Mel Gibson Buffs Up For The Latest Expendables
